Herstmonceux

⬅️ Case Studies

This residential new-build project was constructed on the edge of a field in the village of Herstmonceux. Our client obtained planning permission to build two new detached properties on a level cutting into the hill-side. We excavated thousands of tonnes of soil to create level sites and then built concrete retaining walls to stabilise the remaining soil.

Both properties were timber framed and built on traditional trench fill concrete foundations. They were both extremely well insulated with a combination of PIR and quilt insulation. Both properties were heated by underfloor heating, via air source heat pumps. We were responsible for the entire project, which also included kitchens, bathrooms, patios, garages and a lengthy drive.

The biggest challenges on this project were caused by access, with literally hundreds of muck-away lorries using a narrow un-made road leading directly off the high street.
